How it Works

Features

Wireless

SOMAX sensors are fully wireless devices that use WiFi or cellular to send sensor data to the SOMAX Asset Monitoring Cloud.

Battery Powered

SOMAX sensors are powered by a standard CR123A or AA battery. The batteries are field replaceable and last up to 12 years with standard settings.

Easy Installation

It’s easy to install SOMAX sensors in minutes, no specialized training needed. Mount with industrial-grade steel epoxy or stud mount using a ¼” 28 UNF tapped socket on the base of the device.

Onboard Data Storage

If your wireless sensor ever loses connection with the gateway, rest assured your data will be there when the connection is restored: Integrated data storage allows for up to 512 time-stamped data readings.

Data Security

Rest assured with SOMAX layered data security. SOMAX uses a 256-bit exchange and an AES-128 CTR for all data transmission. SOMAX products are also equipped to avoid wireless interference, as 900 MHz products use frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS), and SOMAX uses 868 and 433 MHz frequency agile sensors.

Industrial Compliance

SOMAX sensors are suitable for indoor or outdoor use (IP67) and is certified for use in Class 1 Div 2 environments. The devices are certified for FCC, CE, and NEMA 4x.

Vibration

SOMAX Vibration Sensor

The SOMAX Wireless Advanced Vibration sensor uses an accelerometer to measure vibration and frequency on 3 axes. The sensor reports vibration (acceleration, velocity, displacement, or acceleration peak), frequency (Hz/RPM), and crest factor on all three axes, and duty cycle (how much of the report interval was vibration present), and temperature. This sensor can be used to manage vibration in assembly lines and monitor seismic activity in bridges.

Gateways

Ethernet

SOMAX’s Ethernet Gateways allow your Wireless Sensors to communicate with the SOMAX Asset Monitoring System without the need for a PC. Simply provide power and plug the gateway into an open Ethernet network port with an internet connection. It will then automatically connect with our online servers, providing the perfect solution for commercial locations where there is an active internet connection.

Cellular

The SOMAX LTE Cellular Gateways take advantage of the latest 4G LTE CAT-M1 cellular technology and backup battery, allowing your Wireless Sensors to communicate with the SOMAX system via cellular transmission even through power failure. This is the perfect solution for remote locations, or where an existing wired internet connection is not an option.
